1. Creating a business vision


A business vision is a direction for a business, such as a compass, that emphasizes competitiveness by setting important goals for an individual or group to continue to evolve.





<Business vision>

(1) What do you want my business to look like after five years? (My future after 5 years)

 - Example Answer: Now, I am running a small restaurant with my family, but I will grow this business and develop it into the best restaurant in Korea.

(2) What do you want your business to look like 10 years from now? (My future after 10 years)

- Example ANSWER: President of franchise headquarters with 100 merchants

(3) What goal do you have to practice specifically to achieve my vision that I want to achieve after 5 years and 10 years?

- Example Answer:

* Store management related goals

- Achieved monthly average sales of over KRW 20 million

- Achieved average monthly profit of over 5 million won

* Self-development target

- Certified as a cook (Korean food)

- Benchmarking three or more excellent stores every month

- Read more than one restaurant specialty magazine or book each month

* Customer management related goals

- Create 5 regular customers per month


<Features of the vision declaration that includes the vision contents are as follows>

* Must have meaning

(1) Include business objectives and means.

(2) appeal to all stakeholders.

(3) Needs of stakeholders related to business as well as customers should be reflected.

(4) participate and share with all working members.

* Writing a vision statement

(1) Vision Statement: Describe the key words to reveal to the customer what to do and how to do it.

(2) Must be oriented toward business customers.

(3) It should be long term.

(4) Be concise and clear.


<Notes on Vision Setting>

* Good vision is as follows.

(1) Harmony between organization and age

(2) Set higher standards than other stores to reflect high ideals

(3) Clearness of purpose and direction of purpose of business.

(4) Encourage enthusiasm and commitment to the business.

(5) It should be clearly expressed and easily understandable about the business that I am interested in.

(6) The uniqueness, abilities, and cause of the organization should be reflected.

(7) Must have a willingness to demand sacrifice and dedication to members.


<Non-vision>

(1) Vision is about the future but it is not prophecy or hope.

(2) Vision is not a mission

(3) Vision is not true

(4) Vision can not be treated as a matter of right or wrong

(5) The vision should be long-term, not fixed or ending with a single declaration.

(6) Vision does not constrain behavior, except behavior that does not correspond to vision.
